Grading Policy

In Mr. Bond's class it is expected that students complete all of their work in a timely and proficent manner. In-class experimentation and collaborative group work is vital to understanding scientific concepts. Any classes missed by students are expected to be made up at lunch or after school office hours. Students will receive around one or two homework assignments each week, but if time is used efficently in class, students will have minimal work to complete at home. If a student is struggling in class or turns in work that is not proficent, that student is encouraged to come to office hours for additional support. Students may feel peaks and lulls in assigned work throughout the year. Specifically students generally find they are spending more time working on science at home while completing a science fair and Urban Advantage project.

The academic year is divided into three trimesters. Scholars will receive a progress report grade at the end of each trimester. While individual assignments have more specific scoring rubrics, below is the grading guidelines for all classes:

  • 30% Major Assessments: End of unit tests, interim assessments

  • 45% Minor Assessments: Quizzes, classwork, journals, mid-unit assessments

  • 25% Homework/Participation: HW, Do Now, In-class assignments

Students will receive a letter grade for each assignments and class to be calculated into an overall GPA.  Scoring guidelines are as follows:

  • A = 90-100%

  • B = 80-89%

  • C = 68-79%

  • F = 50-67%

You may find other codes in place of grades:

T - Turned In

M - Missing

L - Late

I - Incomplete

Ch - Cheated

X - Exempt

Dr - Dropped
